Swedish Sauna Bucket

A hand-turned sauna bucket from rural Sweden, dating to the late 19th century. Crafted from solid pine, its generous, rounded body and softly flared rim reflect the restrained utility of Scandinavian farmhouse life.

Visible lathe lines circle the form, while the dry, honeyed patina has deepened over decades of exposure to heat and steam. Subtle surface cracks, tonal variations, and areas of wear speak to authentic use, giving the piece a sculptural presence grounded in history.

Originally used for carrying and ladling water over sauna stones, this vessel now functions beautifully as a standalone decorative object. Its organic silhouette and timeworn surface add depth and texture to shelves, consoles, or hearthside settings. A straightforward example of enduring 19th century Swedish craftsmanship.
