Set of Spice Jars III
This set of three French porcelain spice canisters dates to the turn of the century, complementing the larger kitchen storage pieces of the same series. Each is labeled in bold black lettering—Poivre (pepper), Muscade (nutmeg), and Épices (spices)—and features the same hand-painted central motif of a woven basket overflowing with florals. The design is consistent with early 20th-century French provincial ceramics, where elegance met utility.
The canisters are finished in a crisp white glaze with touches of gilt ornamentation along the corners, adding subtle refinement. Their compact square forms and lidded tops with rounded knobs were intended for everyday kitchen use, keeping spices fresh while offering visual charm on open shelves.
